Day Trip to Malaysia

I was quite hesitant about the day trip to Malaysia to be honest.
My last trip, on coach, to Desaru certainly wasn't the most pleasant or fun.

My family drove for about an hour and a half to reach the Kota Tinggi area,
thanks to our trusty GPS system.
Had lunch at this rather run-down place with colorful stone stables and chair (above).
We had chicken rice and it wasn't so bad, though the hygiene level is highly questionable.

Drove for another 30 minutes to the waterfall 'resort'.
To be honest, it was quite a disappointment.
The waterfall was nice but nothing spectacular,
definitely not worth the trip there unless you are a local.
And needless to say, all the people at the so called 'resort' were mostly locals.

The resort resembles more like a cluster of poorly maintained chalets,
coupled with an even more disgusting private swimming pool (above).
It looks not too bad in the picture above but the pool water was actually really dirty.

We spent about only 20 minutes at the waterfall, and that includes a toilet break.
Drove all the way back to JB to have seafood for dinner.
Dinner was pretty good - lobster, fish and oysters,
but the prices were almost comparable to Singapore.

Ended the day on a good note as we headed for coffee and desserts at Lavender Bistro.
The waffle was pretty good, but then again, it's hard to go wrong with waffles.
The same couldn't be said for the barista though.
I ordered a no-foam latte, and got a glass of coffee-tasting milk.
I guess to the barista, no foam means extra amount of milk to fill the glass to its brim.
Nevertheless, it's a fairly decent joint that I would visit again.
